This is the first post in your new blog. To add another or delete this one click the Blog option on the toolbar above.
Along with many others, I am fascinated by the power of blogging and social networking to change the world for the better. The focus of this blog will be how we can help create a cleaner marine environment with a particular focus on the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, aka the Trash Vortex. As a diver, though not for a while, it's an issue that's close to my heart and this blog will be my first attempt to see what can be achieved by one enthusiastic amateur.
I will try to raise awareness and, working on the principle that people love to help if only they knew how, will create opportunities for you to contribute to creating a cleaner marine environment. And yes, there will be opportunities to financially support some really fantastic projects out there as well.
Inevitably there will be some personal observations about the wider issue of personal responsibility and how, in my opinion, we are all as green as suits us, myself included, of course: It's easy to give up air travel if you are afraid of flying or don't have any friends or family abroad. Personally I wouldn't give up my car unless there were a revolution in public transport. And the attraction of allotments and growing your own food continues to elude me.
So Hello World! And let's see where this goes...
